What is the “high” feeling?

While eliminating the misconception of getting “high” using CBD, it is important to understand the science behind this feeling. It all starts with the extraction of THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol from cannabis plants. It is worth noting that both THC and CBD are derived from the same cannabis plant only.

THC binds to the cannabinoid 1 (CB1) receptors and cannabinoid 2 (CB2) receptors. The CB1 receptors are located in the brain regions associated with inflammation, pain sensation, movement, memory, and learning. The CB2 receptors are located in the hippocampus and brainstem. These regions are associated with memory, and emotions. There are different cells in our body like liver cells, spleen, bone cells, and immune cells that contain CB2 receptors. Hence, it is easy to understand that THC can produce strong psychological and physical effects.

According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse, the THC present in the CBD vape oil releases dopamine that causes euphoric “high” and pleasurable feeling that often leads to the misconception that CBD vape oil may get a person “high.”

Hence the ”high” feeling is only associated with the THC and has no link with CBD vape oil. This is because CBD vape oil never binds to CB1 and CB2 receptors in the body. Not only this, it further reduces the ability of THC and other CBD compounds to bind to the CB1 receptors.

Wrapping Up:

To wrap up, CBD vape oil never gets any person high as it is the THC that causes the feeling of high. While both CBD and THC are derived from the same plant, there is a large difference between the functioning of these two derivates. CBD never links to the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the body and hence has multiple health effects with zero side effects.
